Why Employees Don't Use the EAP, and What Utilization Really Looks Like
Low EAP use is normal. Research synthesised for US insurance regulators puts utilization typically below 10% of employees, and one study of 44 organisations found nearly half reported rates between 2.1% and 8%. The main barriers are limited awareness of what the EAP offers, stigma and doubts about confidentiality. Some strain also starts where a counselling line cannot reach.
