Bradley McDevitt is an American executive coach and depth psychology scholar in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, working with leaders at an inflection point.[1] He is an Associate Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation and a certified practitioner of Presence-Based Coaching, and he holds an MA in Depth Psychology and Creativity from Pacifica Graduate Institute, where he now teaches as adjunct faculty.[2][3]
His practice rests on a thirty year career in professional theatre, which came first and still supplies the method.[1] Out of it he built Theater of Self, an intensive that puts physical theatre, Jungian depth psychology and Iain McGilchrist's work on the divided brain in one room, and runs it through movement, voice and improvisation.[4]

Bradley came to this work from the stage. He spent thirty years working professionally in theatre and dance performance, combined with somatic integration work.[1][2]
His MA in Depth Psychology and Creativity is from Pacifica Graduate Institute, the school where he now teaches.[1][2] The coaching credentials came later: the Associate Certified Coach credential from the International Coaching Federation, which maintains a public register, and Core Practitioner certification through Presence-Based Coaching.[1][2][3]
Theater of Self is his own synthesis. There is no issuing body behind it and no certificate.[4]
Its premise is that professional life rewards one narrow mode of attention, which he characterises, following McGilchrist, as focused, instrumental and good at manipulating parts. That produces leaders who can analyse a situation and cannot be moved by it. The intensive sets out to recover play, awe, wonder, and the flexibility to watch your own mind work.[4]
The method is experiential. Participants work through movement, vocalisation and improvisation, on the principle that the body is where presence lives and presence is the ground of everything else. He runs the room as a laboratory where it is safe to be seen learning.[4]
It runs from a half day to several days, as an open intensive, as applied theatre inside an organisation, or one to one. No theatre experience is required, only willingness. A related programme, Whole Brain Presence, runs in partnership with the Princeton Healthy Aging Foundation.[4]
His coaching engagements run six months, for leaders at an inflection point.[1] They aim at the gap between who you are under pressure and who you are capable of being.[1]
The engagements pair assessment with imagination-led work. As an affiliate of the Center for Creative Leadership's Leadership Development Program he is certified in WorkPlace Big Five, ISI, PerSight and Benchmark 360, and he uses them where they help.[1]
He also keynotes on depth psychology, hemispheric attention and consequential action, and he hosts the Quotidian podcast.[1][2]
Bradley works with Michael Valverde at Coherence Lab, which applies AI-informed methods to organisational clarity, and with Carolina Commons, civic infrastructure for collective intelligence.[1]
Theater of Self runs under Iaculus on his own site, and under Carolina Commons Creative, which he founded, on his Pacifica listing, together with a second programme, Presence In Presentation.[1][2] Both are his.
He is based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and works virtually as well as in person.[1]
