Psychiatrist in private practice in São Paulo, working at the join between psychiatry, consciousness, contemplative practice and spirituality. He also founded Associação Cruz de Ankh, a legally constituted Brazilian religious association for philosophical inquiry, self-knowledge and the study of consciousness, and he is careful that the two are not the same practice. In May 2026 he was corresponding author on the Frontiers in Neuroscience case report that went around the world: an eighty-year-old woman with advanced Alzheimer's who regained continence, mobility and conversation after a high dose of psilocybin-containing mushrooms. He has supervised roughly four hundred sessions with about two hundred adults, and he is the first person to say that is an observation and not controlled evidence. His own line on the case report: a research hypothesis, not a treatment recommendation. Both uncritical enthusiasm and automatic dismissal are scientifically unhelpful.
