Henry Kagey, PhD
Rolfer and somatic educator in San Diego, in private practice since 1995. He learned the work from Dr Edward Maupin, one of Ida Rolf's first students, while taking an MA in Somatic Psychology and a thousand-hour HHP at IPSB, then trained as a practitioner at the Guild for Structural Integration in Boulder under Peter Melchior. He was Maupin's protege for fourteen years. Together they built the IPSB Structural Integration internship and wrote A Dynamic Relation to Gravity, the two-volume classroom manual for the ten sessions, and he carried the teaching to Esalen, Ohio, Japan and China. Then he went and took a PhD in Civil Engineering at UC Berkeley, because he wanted the structure of the body understood as structure. A nationally ranked Taiji athlete underneath all of it, gold at national and international level, and Yang style taught solo for a decade. Since 1998 he has kept one low-income client on his books at all times who cannot pay his rate.
