One day only

Carlos Balam
WhenSaturday 17 October 2026
WhereInsda Wellness Resort, Chiang Mai
Held byCarlos Balam

Carlos Balam is coming from the Yucatán Peninsula of Mexico to hold cacao the way his people have held it for a very long time. Live ancestral music, a room full of people who came for the real thing, and a night that runs long.

  1. 01

    Hear Carlos's ancestral music

Played live, on instruments most people in the room will never have heard.

  2. 02

Feel the cacao open your heart

Ceremonial cacao, prepared and served in the Mayan tradition rather than as a drink with a story attached.

  3. 03

    Witness the sacred Mayan tradition

Held by somebody who carries it, not by somebody who read about it.

  4. 04

    Dance to ancient frequencies

The ceremony finishes and the music does not. Live through the night.

This is a Mayan cacao ceremony in Chiang Mai, on Saturday 17 October 2026, held by Carlos Balam from the Yucatán Peninsula of Mexico. The cacao is ceremonial grade and it is prepared and served the way his people have served it, not as a drink with a story attached to it. Carlos plays live through the evening on ancestral instruments, and Kane Lorh, founder of The Awakening, plays his icaros after the ceremony closes.

Guests are welcomed from 4.30pm at Insda Wellness Resort, in the hills above Hang Dong on the road to Samoeng, twenty-three kilometres out of Chiang Mai.

If you have been looking for a cacao ceremony in Chiang Mai held by somebody who carries the tradition rather than borrows it, this is the one night Carlos is in the city.
